The Boys & Girls Aid Society of Oregon contracted me to write this book for their 120th Anniversary in 2005.  It is a history of a remarkable child-saving institution and features biographies of more than a dozen of the thousands of children the agency has worked with since 1885.  One of the most gratifying aspects of writing this book was talking with and paying homage to former staff members who had dedicated such a large part of their lives to serving very vulnerable children.  I was also struck and touched by the resilience and courage of those girls and boys.
